English Language Learner Specialist
Serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language.
Provides technical assistance to school instructional staff in the areas of an assignment involving the development, monitoring, and implementation of assigned programs or activity. Supports English Language (EL) students in the EL program.
Builds the capacity of teachers and mainstream/content teachers to accelerate the learning of English Language Learners (Els). Responsible for developing and delivering standards based-professional development in support of teachers and students to build content knowledge and pedagogical skills in teachers.
Assist in administering required language proficiency, academic achievement and WIDA tests for determining placement for students along with ongoing monitoring of student progress
Supervise HLS documents, maintain a database of EL and EL-eligible students.
Work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction.
Assist in developing appropriate curriculum and selecting textbooks, instructional materials, instructional resources, and equipment for the EL program.
Assist in developing district master English Learner Plan
Demonstrates strategies that focus on increasing the English language proficiency of ELs
Evaluates effectiveness of assigned EL programs or activities
Assures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and procedures related to areas of assignment. Keeps abreast of all federal and state Title III and LEP/ EL guidelines
Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.

Respond to parents’ request for language assistance, assist in providing translation or interpretation from appropriate and competent individuals if needed
Attend and participate in established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e, back-to-school night, open house, leadership meetings, and other activities customarily attended by staff), which may be outside of regular school hours.
Maintains detailed logs of support provided to schools.
Participate in Instructional Leadership Team Meetings, in-service, and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors
